Description:

Rich in history, this small town is situated on the alternative route of the N3. The well known writer, PG du Plessis, was born here. The local N.G. Church, which is built of sandstone, is one of the towns well known tourist attractions.

Cornelia is also renowned for the fossil discoveries of pre-historic creatures found in 1955 which are presently still being safeguarded in the National Museum in Bloemfontein.
